Project Overview

The Curriculum Commons project was developed by three Alberta colleges that shared a common focus: the Practical Nurse Diploma program. Lakeland College, Lloydminster, and Keyano College, Fort McMurray had been brokering the Practical Nurse program from NorQuest College, Edmonton for several years. Over the years, the deans responsible for Practical Nurse programming became interested in examining a new partnership model. Alberta Advanced Education and Technology implemented a grant program (Access to the Future Innovation Fund) that was extended to the Alberta public post-secondary system to support its vision of Campus Alberta. NorQuest College, on behalf of the three colleges, submitted a proposal to develop a Curriculum Commons Model that would enable curriculum collaboration across the system.
